In my state the red light cameras are illegal because they are hackable. Some jurisdictions have kept them up, but have taken down the warning signs. Stupid drivers think the cameras are still working. It is also illegal to use a laser or radar speed gun to check your speed unless a human being is operating the speed gun.
how are they unconstitutional?way back when they were first being used, one libertarian argument was that they prefer having a camera take their picture than being stopped by a police officer.How is a State operated camera invading your privacy less constitutional that a State employed person invading your privacy. The cameras are designed to only take a photo if your speeding, running a red light (i.e., breaking the law) is triggered, it isn’t 24/7 monitoring of legal activity.
