What we have here is a dad who screwed up his life and wants to re-live it vicariously through his son… whether he likes it or not.

There are more than a few parents out there just like that, especially when it come to football. It’s a family tradition, passing brain damage down the generations.

It’s hard, sometimes to be a parent and NOT pass down your love for something. I love to sing – yes, in public – and when my older daughter was born I had dreams of mother-daughter duets. Unfortunately, while she is a gifted public speaker and thinks nothing of speaking or playing the violin in front of an audience…she gets panic attacks if she has to sing in public! I’m not even talking solos; she won’t do it in a group situation, either! So, I enjoy her speaking and playing and let it go. Besides, the dream is still alive: her little sister LOVES singing, and loves harmonizing with me!

boy, this makes me really grateful that my parents didn’t force me into anything. They said I could find my own way.

Young Binkley is an insufferable little prig. He deserves his fate, though he obviously will never be a “star halfback” nor even a quarterback nor an eighthback nor a sixteenthback….

It’s pretty desperate if you’d rather be in Philadelphia
