Dee Snider testifying before congress was only outdone by Frank Zappa testifying before congress. I knew Frank was a very intelligent guy, but Dee was a pleasant surprise. Take that, Tipper!
Barry Manilow donated an electric piano to my daughters’ middle school (when they were there). It happened on April 1, and my older daughter at first thought the administration was playing a large April Fool prank on the students; they weren’t.
Lumping Van Halen in with the other two is kind of unfair. For Barry Manilow laughs, check out Ray Stevens’ send-up. I forget the name of it, but its pretty funny.
I confess that I really like Barry Manilow but 60 hours of non-stop listening to him or ANYONE would be too much. The heavy metal listener got VARIETY. It’s a rigged game.
Dee Snyder from Twisted Sister testified to the US Senate against censorship of music, during the PMRC hearings. I didn’t see ol’ Barry in the audience, much less on the stand
Wow! I don’t know whether to agree with Milo (doubtful if that will ever happen) or to give thanks for Barry Manilow’s stimulating effects on our Bill the Cat!

That DOES explain a few things, but there’s no chance that some wires got crossed, is there? OTOH…

As the old bumper sticker said – “Bury Manilow!”
I also liked the one that said “If Barry Manilow is middle-of-the-road – _why hasn’t anyone run him over?”_

Tipper Gore and the PMRC were heroes of the “Get off my lawn!” crowd. Sadly, I find myself moving ever more rapidly in that direction.

Last night “Antenna TV”ran on “The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson” an episode when Barry Manilow was a guest. I didn’t remember either song he sang.
