I have to admit, Mr Iacocca knocked it out of the park with the Mustang. My first cat was a ’67 Mustang with a 3 speed manual and a straight 6 200 engine. Man, I really miss that car, so easy to do everything on it from basic maintenance to minor repairs such as a hose, belt or water pump. Nowadays everything is computerized and you simply have to take the car to the dealer for service.
One of the only things Iacocca did right was to buddy up with Caroll Shelby. Otherwise the Mustang mostly would have stayed a “secretary’s car,” Ford would never have gone into sportscar racing (crushing Ferrari and opening up European markets), and affordable Dodge cars would never have been so interesting during his tenure there (and those too were flawed but fun).

Tom Paxton, in I’m Changing My Name to Chrysler, rhymed “Iacocca” with “Power Broka.”

Lee gave us the Mustang. And the Pinto and the Chrysler K-Car.

I had a Pinto, as long as you don’t get rear ended at 55 MPH they were not going to burst into flames.

One of my favorites, but I forgot that it ended so tragically for the cockroach. At least it was not Milquetoast.

Everyone here is well aware that the Mustang is/was merely a reskinned Falcon?
