Happy anniversary Bloom County! Today, in 1980 – “Bloom County” by Berkeley Breathed was first published as a syndicate, and ended August 6, 1989. Then, from 1989 until 1995, he did “Outland” a Bloom County spin off Sunday-only comic strip. On July 12, 2015, Breathed started drawing Bloom County again. The first revived strip was published via Facebook on July 13, 2015. Bloom County originated from a comic strip known as The Academia Waltz, which Breathed produced for The Daily Texan, the student newspaper of the University of Texas.

Binkley was such a great character in the 80s. I hated how Breathed turned him into a brat in the new strips just to “get Trump.”
