Nancy: Thank you for my pets, my friends, my family...And for the answer to problem 12 on today's math quiz! I KNOW it was YOU, god! Because I had no clue!
Every so often, Guy really says something I like. I’ve grown used to expecting this pretty regular. Now, i want to suggest that Guy or the syndicate release a volume title, THE PRAYERS OF NANCY. Some of these have been beautiful and others have reflected a child’s prayers in ways some of us have forgotten as we reach out mid 70s. I’ll be 74 in July and I’d love to have the collection, but I’m afraid I’ll have to wait for my 75th birthday to have someone give such a volume of reprints to me. Thanks. Guy, for showing Nancy still remembers the creator of the universe.
The scenes of children saying their bedtime prayers are a routine genre of cartoons by many different artists. I agree that a collection might be interesting. Children often express a sweet and trusting appreciation of God. It was even this way in ancient times of polydeism, probably. “…Suffer little children to come unto me, and forbid them not: for of such is the kingdom of God.”
I remember an old “Dennis the Menace” cartoon that had him saying his prayers while his mom listened. He said something like, “And thank You for not letting anyone find out about ‘you know what.’ I could have really gotten in trouble for that one.”
being a grandparent and having listened to my kids say their bedtimes prayers and now my grand children saying theirs – i often found/find myself saying a very hearty “AMEN” to their simple heart expressed prayers.
now i lay me down to sleepi pray the Lord my soul to keepif i should die before i wakeplease Lord don’t let it be a mistake!amen
This is my grand daughter’s prayer, sung in a very sweet soprano…I see the moon, the moon sees meThe moon sees somebody I want to seeSo, God bless the moon and God bless meAnd God bless the ‘Somebody’ I want to see

Sometimes we do need to thank Him for the little unexpected blessings like the answer to problem 12 or a terrific parking space.
