Unlike humans, horseshoe crabs do not have hemoglobin in their blood, but instead use hemocyanin to carry oxygen. Because of the copper present in hemocyanin, their blood is blue. Hey Star Trek fans, does this mean that Mr. Spock was really a horseshoe crab?
So ‘Bones’ kept on telling him anyway. He was originally supposed to have a satanic red hue but it showed up as black on B&W telly’s so they settled on light green instead…
What horseshoe crabs mainly do is reproduce prolifically. What they do in-between is a mystery, though I assume it involves eating.
They are among my cast-of-characters in response to the cliche “Of course there is life on other planets, but it won’t be life as we know it.” Anyone who says that has no idea how weird life on this planet is. (Meat that thinks! Monkeys that talk! I mean, who could dream up this stuff?!)

SHEIK I thought Spock came from the Crab Nebula?
I’m so young I only saw it on SciFi reruns.

The horseshoe crab might ask, “what does the apteryx do?” These days, I think the answer might be, not so much.

The Horse Shoe Crab as I gather is not a crab, but as a species is one of the oldest in the world.
That’s all the totally trivial trivia I have right now.

A horseshoe crab is an arachnid, kin to spiders and scorpions. Harmless, tho.

More trivia: Each day, a random horshoe crab is plucked from a tank in Wisconsin and placed at a drawing table.
That crab draws that day’s Heathcliff.
Then a half-eaten pork chop writes the caption.
