Boys ARE different from girls in the way they think. This does not make them bad.
Maggie IS dressed provocatively, as do a lot of girls these days (and even in the 80’s when this was printed). So what? It does not make ladywatcher a bad person for making an observation.
When my niece was 16, she dressed like that all the time, and wore so much make-up that she carried it around in a tackle box. She was walking on Beach Blvd in Anaheim (an area known for hookers) and was approached by a man in a car because he thought she was one of the working girls. She toned it down a bit after that.
Lawrence is a prepubescent kid. He is in blended family with two older sisters who seem to accept him as a bratty little brother. It is not easy, but all concerned seem to enjoy the play. I hope the best, but they do not exist really. It is all a figment of Lynn Johnston’s imagination.

He’s very smart to look ahead and plan his get-a-way. He’ll go far in this world with that attitude.

Oh, get a life! He’s thinking of doing something funny. He’s a normal kid, and where did rape have any place in this discussion?
