Andy is typical. When bars are forced by the beer monopolies to raise their prices, it’s usually the moochers and malcontents who scream the loudest.
There is very little profit in beer ( compared to wine and spirits ) for the average bar owner and most places try to keep the prices – especially draft beer – down to an affordable level for their clientele.
Draft beer drinkers in most countries are, by and large, working class people, college students, or retirees – living on a limited budgets and fixed incomes. The raise in price – even in small increments – affects them much more than a rise in drink price for a martini drinker,
As usual, a rise in consumer prices affects those who can least afford it.
@ Linguist. Sometimes beer is treated as necessity with inelastic demand. Any marginal price increase affects effective demand of all other residual commodities below it with consequences. Treasuries beware!!!!
