Justin Thompson puts more brilliant artwork in one panel than most cartoonists do in a week. Everyone, just take an extra minute to admire the details.
Justin, has anyone ever approached you with an animation deal? That may be the road to the widespread fame you deserve.
Oh. Just GREAT. Not only one more comic (Imagine THIS) to follow. Oh, no no no no.
Something like a half dozen new strips to check out from all the paternity leave guest strips. You’re evil. All of you, just evil!
Oh, BTW. I just sorta have to do this. Check out Justin’s portfolio page here:
Note there are several links at the top of the page; in particular I draw your attention to the Book Illustration link.
By The Way – the podcast thing with Brooke yesterday. I’d love to download & listen to a copy. Where do I go for that ..? And, I’d love best to play it on WinAmp on Windows, if at all possible. Since I don’t do podcasts, any hints or links for info from anyone would be appreciated.
We did the podcast last night and it went very well. It will be posted on Monday, April 6th at www.comicscoasttocoast.com as well as Comics Coast to Coast podcasts at iTunes. You can check out past shows at these places, and listen to other comics creators you might like. A far as Windows tech, I’m sorry- I have no idea. I’m a MAC guy.
As for being approached to do any animation, well…. it sure would be nice to be approached for something like that. It’d be great to make actual money at this, but nobody has approached me about anything like that, no.
:(
It absolutely boggles the mind that you are not paid for this strip. You should be in a newspaper, magazine, heck, have a collection published. The artwork is amazing, and the characters are wonderful. Keep it up!!!
I’d like to make a quick point. I’m going to talk about Pibgorn for a sec but my point has to do with Mythtickle.
I’ve been reading Pibgorn for years, long before Brooke moved to goComics. And for a long time it seemed like I was the only one reading him. I’d search for him on the web and find very little about him or relating to him. Then he moves to goComics and BAMN! He’s like a superstar here. And I’m really glad for him. I love Pibgorn and I’m glad so many people have found it and share in it. But there are so many people posting on the Pibgorn site I can’t even come close to keeping up. I almost miss the old days, when it seemed (to me) that Pibgorn was something I had all to myself.
I can almost see the same thing happening here on Mythtickle. And I really, truly am happy for Justin and sincerely want to see his work shared and enjoyed. So I guess I’m going to have to make the most of these days here on Mythtickle where it’s just a few of us sharing his work. I think it’s going to get crowded here. And that’s a good thing!
It’s true that the comments on Pib run into 3 digits quite often now, and I’m not one who has time to read all of them daily, but when I do I quite often pick up some useful tidbit – like other great comics. That’s how I found Mythtickle (and Freefall and a few others).
I’ve followed Pibgorn since the very first strip, and have been an evangelist for both the strip and Brooke ever since. The huge community that has developed here at gocomics around Pibgorn is nothing but good - a bunch of people who are united in one thing, but willing to have fun with it and with everything. Good for them. May Pibgorn get 700+ comments this weekend!
podcasts: they’re just MP3 files, so should be playable in WinAmp no problem. I get my ComicsCoastToCoast podcasts through iTunes, but that’s not even close to the only way.
Justin: I may or may not have said this before, but Mythtickle has become one of my favorite strips of all time. More power to you, and thanks hugely!
Thanks for the info on the podcasts. I’ve got it figured out & working now. Being allowed to download the *.mp3 files is really the best way to go; very universal format.
Thanks!

I share your enthusiasm and agree, the Pibgorn folks are great. But if great comics with fans who are such dedicated posters such as Mythtickle and Pibgorn continue to post at such a prodigious rate goComics is going to have to sooner or later figure out some new forum for our posts. Sorry for the run on sentence, it got away from me there for a second. Anyway, I’d even go PRO if there was a more efficient way of communicating!
In answer to “fairportfan“‘s question,
I was Batman at the Batman Stunt Spectacular in Six Flags Great Adventure in New Jersey for 4 years in the mid ‘90’s. http://www.maddolphin.com/batman.jpg
I fought the Joker, Riddler, Two Face, a horde of henchmen, and plenty of Six Flags management dweebs. It was a great time.
About the comments, I don’t think GoComics will get at all tweaked about hundreds of comments on a page. I think they’d be thrilled, and it can only make us (the cartoonist) look better. There’s nothing wrong with seeming popular. Comments take up hardly any bandwidth at all I would imagine so no, don’t worry about that at all. If GoComics were to say anything to us we’ll be the first to let you all know.
Keep em comin’.

to your query re Justin’s podcast of his interview of Brooke McEldowney.
It should be available Monday, March 29 on his Comics Coast to Coast site
EDIT: Correction Monday April 6th [per Justin’s comment 03-26]
http://comicscoasttocoast.com/
It will be audio only. Ccdesan and Joe_Minotaur’s interview at NY con will be
audio AND video which takes a LOT more effort to produce. Keep tuned.

Justin, I wasnt too worried about goComics reaction. My complaint is purely selfish. Like most of the folks around here I like the comments nearly as much as I do the comics themselves. Traffic on the Pibgorn site is just too much for me, I can’t keep up. I was just doing my Cassandra impression, saying that your site would be the same way before too long. You’re getting a strong following, a well deserved one. And you got to be Batman, how cool is that!

Justin, that guest gig would have made a pretty good Mythtickle…
As for the URL:
http://imaginethiscomic.com
and note that Imagine This makes its GoComic debut on April 6th, so it’ll be really easy to check it out every day!

Can someone tell me what the three globes are that are pulling the boat? Is this some sort of mythical nod that I’m missing?

And here I thought that Dudley had bought the boat from a pawn shop.

@Dypak Your concerns are shared. Hopefully the crowd @ Pibgorn will thin out and cogent discussions can continue.

Okay, so Lucas spilled the beans - you used to be a stuntman at Six Flags. Which Six Flags, if you don’t mind admitting it?
