There’s an 800 mile long railroad in India (I think) that’s straight as an arrow except for one jog. When the railroad was being planned, the planner drew a straight line with a ruler, but the ruler had a nick in it. The builders, not wanting to incur the wrath of the planners, dutifully incorporated the nick into the railroad line.
