I think it’s just that some people have to feel superior to other people in order to boost their own ego. They probably took “Show and Tell Day” in elementary school way to seriously!!!

Dog shows are all about money. That is the point.

Or dog is in a show every day. She shows off for the neighbors.

Swallowing the animal rights agenda hook, line and sinker. Say good-bye to your companion pets too because you’re their next target.

Hilarow, you said it best! And that rescue dog you are so proud of probably was bred by a puppy mill and you are just perpetuating that problem by “rescuing” it.

They used to cut the dog’s whiskers off so the judge could more clearly see the profile of the muzzle. Do they still do that? IMO, dogs need their whiskers to enjoy a complete sensory experience and cutting them off is cruel and thoughtless. Well, that’s only part of what I don’t like about dog shows. The worst thing about dog shows is the intense inbreeding needed to achieve the “perfect” dog. For example, whose idea was it to breed German Shepherds to have a stance like a hyena?

And they don’t even recognize a breed every zoologist knows – the dingo.

I’ve never seen a more pointless collection of curmudgeons.

I find it interesting that interest in purebred dogs and cats exploded after WW1, when many aristocracies disappeared forever. It’s as if people needed to replace an inbred royal human with an inbred royal animal.
