Not wearing seatbelts, crashing in a flying car, tray tables not placed in the upright position… I don’t care how tough you are, people/vermin shouldn’t be walking away very quickly, let alone potentially breathing.
Let’s see… two anthros crash a flying car into a somewhat busy restaurant near the start of the dinner rush. Wait till the health inspector gets a look at the size of that mouse. There goes the old “A” rating… ;-)
I’m not sure where they landed, if it’s in a department store, or an art gallery. The legs in panel 3 might be from a customer at a cafe (not necessarily the same cafe as in Monday’s strip), given the hint of a table and cloth in the same panel. If there ARE other people there, Holly’s look of desperation may be caused by the sudden complication of witnesses to Doc Chase’s mutation (Holly might still be in denial regarding her own current condition).
Poor Holly. Participant in another crash, witness to the another transformation of someone close to her. This single week (?) would have driven anyone out of their mind. And she hasn’t yet witnessed the end of everything. Yet, when we meet her about 6 years after these events she has retained her decency—maybe only barely holding on—but she has.
From the direction of the crash and the same style of chairs seen in panel 4 yesterday and panel 2 today (near where the front bumper is coming off), this looks to be the same café. Sure hope noone was at that table in panel 2!
It’s the same cafe. The pillars and railing match, and you can see tables and chairs overturned in the second panel. It looks like someone is injured in the second panel, too. They’re going to have to wash a lot of dishes to pay for this.
Doc has changed, easier for Holly to move but who will save him? Unless there a sympathetic Vet or Endtown is literally under their feet. Doc may be in trouble.
Maybe a kind waitress will help them out: loan Holly an apron. Maybe that’s why she was always found in one?
Panel one does appear to show some artwork on the wall and a table, but this appears to be under a ceiling. Not sure if its a parking structure or a cafe. Or both.
I see two possibilities. Holly and Doc may get an easy escape and possibly find a way to Endtown before the NDCC catches up with them. They also may get caught and sent to Pep Cola Stadium for “treatment”. If its the latter, we may learn why Dottie called Walter The “Hero of Pep Cola Stadium.”
Well, those transformations are quick, aren’t they? Couldn’t have been more than a few minutes between yesterday’s scene where he was an unconscious man and today’s scene where he’s an unconscious badger. And it does appear they’ve crashed into a cafe. You can see one of those metal heart-shaped chairs and cafe table in the first two panels and in the third panel you can see on the left a woman’s legs where she’s stood up from her chair and the table to the right of the panel. She and Doc must escape somehow or the wouldn’t wind up in Endtown.
By the way, I still wonder what it is we’re seeing. On the face of it, it seems to be The Saga of How Holly Mutated. But we know Wally & Company are somewhere watching it…we know that they have interacted with what’s going on to the extent of getting a square meal at a cafe and a dirty look from Lyn at his and Holly’s home. And we also know the events we’re seeing took place about six years before “The Present”…that Wally & Company are from The Present but the other characters aren’t.And we don’t know where Holly-from-The-Present actually is…
That smear in the left front corner of the car in panel 2 looks ominous. The car came down on that corner and I suspect it may have comedown on somebody or a few sombodies.

Doc has made the transformation, but where to now??? They are obviously not alone.

Wow, they look so cute! Before they are discovered, they may need to take their clothes off and pretend to be pets.
pam Miner over 8 years ago
Well, we do know they can be hurt, I hope Doc is not passed out. Holly may need to tell him they better run before anyone sees them.

The future “Jessica rabbit” may run to try to help them. But wearing heels like that it won’t be “fast” running.

If he wasn’t passed out and unconscious, he would not be the badger-like curmudgeon we know and love today.

People do seem to survive these “rough” landings rather well despite the lack of seat belts… ;-)

Looks like they crashed into a department store display window. I’m thinking that silhouette we see in Panel Three is a mannequin…

Oh, man… When he wakes up, he’s going to be pretty mad. And that angry look is going to stay with him for a very long time.
