I remember the one time I sent my son on an overnight camping trip, and forgot to send a bedroll with him. Thankfully, he was a teenager by then, so I didn’t feel like it was ALL my fault. He survived and still loves me, but I sure felt like a bad mom when I found out.

Growing up in Upstate NY installed in me a lifelong hatred of ever camping, and, not coincidentally, put a very quick end to my Scouting career. Never did a camping trip where it was over 40 degrees at night and that was that. Didn’t even make Tenderfoot.
