If dad’s phone isn’t dead he can call 911. And how did he find the bus location , must have been his unknown knowledge..

Boog gave him enough information to find the bus before the phone went dead. The phone died just as Rover spotted the bus.

The bus driver seems strangely uninvolved in a lot of this.

The bus driver will have to be fired for her reckless behavior.

If breaks failed won’t be driver’s fault be school bus maintenance fault. Why should driver be fired when school bus breaks wouldn’t stop the flying bus going down hill?

It’s a tribute to Scancarelli’s artistry that we take for granted the subtle touches in his strip, such as in the first panel as Rover & Boog are slighty distorted by the parabolic mirror.

How Jim manages to maintain such attention to detail and interest in such a small frame to me is amazing. And no matter what the story/gag content of the Sunday panel, we are almost guaranteed a visual treat.

    Thanks Jim!

Kab: The driver should be fired primarily for letting all those small children mill about the cliff ledge, when she should have been marching them all back up to the store along the road to wait for help.

Letting her cell phone run dead is dumb, but small potatoes compared to the safety issue. Brakes go out on buses, but the brick-dumb bus driver is the Deux ex machina ‘driving’ this week’s plot.

Yesterday the mirror was a rectangle, today a circle, still a nice artistic touch.

In my school district the drivers are in touch with the bus garage dispatcher via radio.

School buses have a multitude of mirrors. The circular mirrors are way out by the front bumper, the rectangular ones are near the driver’s window and the door. Neat how he shows the rectangular mirror through the glass in the door. Fun with mirrors.

Bet the driver gets honored for saving all the kids from any harm.
