Sad, but true. The younger generation is losing the ability to interact face-to-face or verbally with other people .It takes longer to text than it does to speak to a person, but too many would rather text than to interact verbally.
I’m not on facebook, never will be, & I don’t tweet. I do have a cell phone basically for emergencies because I am 68 & do not walk well anymore. I would need to call someone if I fell or was in a car accident. My cell is with safelink & I have 3090 minutes & can text. I text my Daughter & her Mother.
They live 35 miles away & sometimes it is easier to text than to call & talk to them. Like anything else, there are pros & cons.
Goodness me, all these old-fogey-style comments on what a terrible society we’re turning into just because of new technology! I’ll bet most of you had the same comments when the horseless carriage came into its own! Well, we’ve always had idiots among us (I don’t mean you folks, I mean the brainless among us who use social media like they do everything else – stupidly!) My daughter, who enjoys social media and makes good use of it too, is an intelligent and well-rounded person, and just graduated college. But this cartoon does remind me that at the graduation ceremony I was surprised when she texted me (somewhat in awe at having completed her four years of study), “I still don’t think this is real.” I was witty enough to text back, “Will they take away your diploma if they catch you texting during the ceremony?” She replied, “No, lol.”

I have a flip phone. It’s voice only. I only use email on my desktop computer. No, twitter, no facebook.
