The “special” tapes were always white plastic so there would be no mistake about what was on them.

That would just make them more attractive to the kids who would want to see what was on the tapes in the different colored cassettes.

Well, he says “we taped everything." So if they recorded them, it would be on the same blank tapes as everything else.Nonetheless… Gene was a small child.I can’t imagine they made any tapes they didn’t want him to find…or that Janis would make an embarrassing tape anyway….

And even if they did…they’d never have left it lying around or unlabelled!Probably with a label like “Aunt Martha in the hospital.”

I had a shorthand notation system; “BoPub” and “Allie” was “Boston Public” and “Allie McBeal.”

Arlo, you’ll never get finished if you keep pulling things out of the boxes. (I know; my folks have been dead for years, and I have to inspect everything I pull out of the box; I hope I live long enough to finish!)

A re-run of Dallas or worse, the last five minutes of Murder She Wrote with the local news, weather, and sports highlights for the remainder of the tape.

I guess Janis isn’t into a night of binge watching unlabeled vcr tapes. You never know what you’ll find. Maybe “Roots”

Any unlabeled tape in my collection is just going to be my “junk tape” where I would timer-record TV shows, watch them once and then overwrite them. Might be interesting to see what I cared to watch back then, but probably not interesting..My collection of first-season Ren & Stimpy cartoons would probably be more fun…

I re-recorded all the VHS, HI8 and Digital8 tapes onto DVD.My other computer has 2 DVD/CD drives and I can make multiple copies of any DVR-R. I also put the VHS tape of super8 sound home movies onto DVD.

    The correct label is:

DO NOT USE THIS TAPE IT WILL DAMAGE THE MACHINE

Also, if Janis streaked through the college courtyard, I doubt she would have any issues participating in “family movies”.

    1. Laugh at this strip.2. All day wonder if YOU erased/hid/destroyed YOUR “special” tapes.3. Start worrying.4. Start cruising eBay and thrift shops for working VHS/Beta machines.5. Dig out 3 boxes loaded with tapes.6. Binge watch unlabeled tapes until you die.

I lived overseas and our little expatriate group exchanged VHS tapes all the time, most of them sent to us by people stateside. My least favorite person to trade with was the not-too-bright bulb who labeled all his tapes, “TV Shows.”

No worries here. My wife said NO! And threatened me with none if I tried. ;)

Janis seems to have lost her female figure, especially panel four.
