Man: Promise me you'll never get too grown up to lie on a blanket and watch the fireworks with your dad. Girl: ooooh! Ahhhhh! Man and girl: Oooooh! Ahhhhh!
I think it’s sweet. Even though she’s all grown up and moved out on her own and probably lives across the country she still finds a way to watch fireworks with her dad.
Things were tough that year on the farm in Kansas. With the 4th of July approaching, Dad announced that there would be no money for fireworks that year. But…we still had the best, most memorable 4th ever. Dad found a piece of lead pipe about yea long and filled it with black powder (used for blasting stumps out of the ground). He jammed the pipe (bomb) into the ground good and hard and lit the fuse. I can still see it in my mind: that piece of pipe spinning though the air out over the cornfield. It was a beautiful thing.
Jo Clear (aka: Grasshopper)I just played at the annual July 3 (don’t ask) band concert and fireworks show. I left before the pyrotechnics, but saw four or five shows (a couple rather good) on the way home.

I lived in Anaheim for a few years and after seeing, AND hearing, Disneyland’s fireworks EVERY night, they kinda got to be “old hat” real quick!
