Funny, Tracy’s heading to Europe just as BREXIT has passed in the U.K.

.Good morning everyone!.Is that Feerless Fosdick I see in the shadows? I’m concerned about what is in store for Abner. He’s frail and might not endure a long summer.

In the wake of the BREXIT vote, there’s renewed interest in TEXIT – The proposition that Texas secede from the U.S.

And no, I’m not making this stuff up.

The Pound and the Euro are already falling rapidly. Watch the international markets carefully today. There might be a panic.

A spirit of divisiveness seems to pervade worldwide lately. Not only here, but also abroad..

Can’t we all just get along …?

A minority wants Texas to leave the Union. Very small.____________________

    Also occasionally very loud.

Say something often enough, loud enough, and it will attract media attention.

Warbucks probably paid Tracy big bucks for a few days work for him to finance their vacation, even if the transportation comes free

Never be sorry for off topic stuff ! We are not robots here and it’s not like that is a profuse occurrence. Once in awhile it is good and perhaps necessary to interject some actual “reality” into our fantasy world that we come to everyday.____________________

    True.

Politics can be a slippery slope though.

Back to voting for just a sec.

Both the BREXIT and TEXIT movements are driven more by anger and frustration at the status quo than directed towards the people’s long-term interests.

    They’re wild punches being thrown.

I’m reminded of the time DC Comics set up phone lines for people to vote on whether Batman’s then-current Robin – Jason Todd – should be killed by The Joker or not.

Long story short, fans really didn’t like Jason Todd.

Politics can be ugly, and – in this day and age – occasionally fatal: Jo Cox, a member of the British Parliament, was brutally slain on the streets of her own district last week. Stabbed and shot. Her killer reportedly subscribed to white supremacist journals, and had a history of mental illness.

Not even going to get into the fact that the firearm in his possession was reportedly obtained illegally.

Hate is way too easy to gin up. And we see it being ginned up more and more, during every election cycle.

Personally, if I hear someone preaching hate, I think, “That’s all that person/party/movement has.”

And I’m hearing people preach hate way too much these days.

Everyone knows the car is broken, but hardly anyone bothers to look under the hood to find out why.

So they throw those wild punches.

    And the car stays broken.

Even though this sequence is more forward-looking than backward-looking (especially today), I’m going to put off my story summary one more day and post the whole works on Saturday morning as usual (providing all goes well).

Hey, Tracy! Be sure to tell Tess to take her burka and make sure she keeps her arms covered – even if it is 90 degrees in the shade. While you’re at it, take a side trip to Brussels.

Moon people like snow and cold weather. Moon Maid used to frolic in the snow. Perhaps Tracy will run into the Moon Governor there in Iceland. The Lunarians had to go somewhere when they left Moon Valley and their appearance at Mysta’s grave indicates that they are somewhere on Earth.

Nice payoff to Tracy for helping to find Annie. Sadly, I suspect Tracy’s vacation will be rudely interrupted.

That murder of the Pro EU PM was timely in relation to this and ugly.

You mean “MP.” Yes, that was both sad and horrifying and may have actually had some influence on the vote. We will never know.

I also recall that Oliver mentioned a “favor” that Tracy can do for him “at a later date”.

Yes, I suspect that is coming up at some point, maybe in the Fall? I suppose it depends how things go.

For some reason, the boldface feature is hiccuping.

If you start a new line somewhere in your post, the boldface thing doesn’t really apply.

Actually, it’s not all good. If the Dick Tracy comic strip comments board turns into a political hate-speech site (on both sides!), I’m outta here. Don’t need it, don’t want it, won’t tolerate it. Cool your jets, lefties and righties!

Meanwhile, on topic, though I see no one in the shadows, I believe Fearless Fosdick is coming.

And, the new Asterix team has just announced the publication of number 36 in the series….

Though it will take up to 2 years to go through the machinations to finalize it.

The current PM will not start the process, so the 2 years won’t start for at least another 3 months.

@SisyphosGiven the timeline, Tracy should be finished his European vacation before anything happens in Britain, so we can get back to discussing the strip.
