All of my 2 recipes are in my head. I make an excellent fruitcake and an exquisite pasta sauce. ♦That dude reading in the other aisle is nearsighted or asleep. ☺☺Uncle Bills famous (infamous?) pasta sauce:♫2 med/lg tomatoes1 med/lg red onion1 sweet red bell pepper1 oz apple cider vinegarsome no-salt Italian seasoning and some ground pepper(optional) mushrooms, garlic(optional) 4 or 5 oz Asiago cheese (no other cheese will do)♫Start water boiling for pasta but dont add salt. Add pasta when boiling. Meanwhile, slice the onion in half at its “equator” and slice off the ends, slice the pepper in half from “pole to pole” after removing stem and seedy core. Place them on a plate and cook in microwave oven for 10 to 11 min (longer if you have an older weaker mw oven). Dice the tomatoes and place in blender with the cooked onion and pepper, asiago cheese (and optional mushrooms and/or garlic if you want). Add 1 oz apple cider vinegar and Italian seasoning. Blend to desired consistency. You may have to add liquid or water depending on your blender and/or the tomatoes used. If you use canned mushrooms you can use the liquid from that too. Makes enough sauce for 16 oz (dry uncooked weight) of pasta. I recommend pasta that can be eaten with a table spoon such as fiore, mini farfalle, radiatore, rotini, small or med shells or elbow macaroni. Enjoy.♫You may want to cook the onion and pepper differently than in the microwave oven. That’s up to you but they must be cooked. Same with the mushrooms and garlic.
I like a good cookbook. I have a bookcase full of them, including 2 that belonged to my grandmothers (both around 100 years old) and one of my mother’s dating to pre-WWII.
I do print things from the Internet and have created my own cookbook of sorts. I also like cookbooks because they are full of helpful hints. I’m also able to make notes in the margins and getting one a little wet or covered in flour isn’t as problematic as doing that to a tablet.
I have a cook book collection starting from the 1950’s. I have some “church lady”collections and one with Pennsylvania German recipies. They aren’t on line! Don’t get me wrong,I use the internet, but some obscure things aren’t there yet.
I love books. There is nothing as satisfying as sitting down and turning pages.…but.My eyes are not as good as the used to be. Also, i do most of my reading of stories after i go to bed at night. I can’t read printed material any more. The back lit screen, and adjustable print size allows me to read.
As for cook books, My big 3 ring binder Better Homes & Gardens cook book is all the cook book i need.
Tragically, I have two editions of the Joy of Cooking and a bunch of awesome cookbooks, but I find myself turning to online recipe sites every time now. Can’t bear to part with those books, though…
assuming you can see your book when the power is out. If you invoke flashlights or kerosene lamps or candles to counter my argument then I’d just say battery powered e-book reader is fine too
Hey Scott, completely random question for you, is that William Shatner sitting in the chair? Even in zoom mode I can’t make out what the book is he’s reading…

We have some recipes from online, some I invented, and a bunch my parents wrote down that I grew up on.

So sad for today’s casual non-consumers. My personal library has several hundred books. I add to it as I find new books to read.

I’m still trying to find something funny about this. What’s funny about not needing cookbooks because you have the Internet, etc.?
