Given how more stores are starting to add credit card surcharges it will make a comeback.

Already “came back” for me, although I do at times use cash (or even that evil card)

I pay by check at the grocery. I have everything but the amount already filled in and, since they have me in their system, it goes just as fast, and sometimes faster than those who are paying by swiping.

I find today’s cartoon kind of creepy. Somebody released a pay system with the phone, so now yo have to pay with your phone, even if you do not know the consequences, or advantages, but it would be wrong not to pay with the phone. You don’t know how safe is the system, yo have to pay new fees but since is a new payment system, you have to use it, even if you can not find an advantage over the methods you are already using. Kinda creepy

I didn’t even know that stores still even allowed people to pay by cheque!

Yes, they do. They just don’t process them like they used to – the check is run through immediately, instead of the store having to wait to send the check to their bank and have their bank run it through the payee’s bank….

Thank the heavens my store finally stopped accepting checks. The old ladies cried numerous tears, but they were not only taking FOREVER (though mostly because they were old), but sometimes the checks bounced and so stores lost money. It was just not worth doing, especially for the tiny, tiny amount of people who still did it. Most younger people don’t even know HOW to pay with check. When people ask WHY we don’t accept checks, I just say “because it’s 2016”.

Between that and getting rid of pennies, my store has probably cut in half the amount of time women over 60 take at the tills. But you still have to teach them step-by-step how to use a card reader.
