I still feel much as I did yesterday. Bader may be a jerk, a big mouth, whatever else, but I can’t see how he is at fault. Did he wrongfully stand up and defend his dad? Was he in denial how bad things were? Did his mom try to shield him from the serious problem his dad had? Some, maybe all are fact.
It’s natural for a kid to stand up for his dad, we want to see the best in them. As a teacher, I see kids who put their dads on a pedestal when our staff knows better. Sorry, young Bader has plenty of faults, but being guilty of this horrible tragedy is not one of the. I pity the kid.
Wow, the kids are really tough at Milford. They’ve already partially scalped Young Master Bader in P1 and knocked the freckles right off his face in P2. At least the whole school hates him now, not just his teammates.
We saw True hugging it out with Ken Brown yesterday and this kid with the backpack “connecting” with Young Bader. Is backpack kid True? Wynn Wiley? Too much contemplation for a Saturday.
Is this the point where Tru(e) shows up and in all his magnificent glory puts aside his own grief and shows mercy on Bader? Or does Gil make his triumphant return to school to offer his words of wisdom to comfort everyone? And speaking of comfort, it will comfort you to know that today’s Mopped Up Thorp is ready.
Isn’t there a Bible passage about not holding the children responsible for the sins of the parents? You’d think in a god fearing town like Milford, they’d know this.

And on her way to the school, Mrs. Bader crashes into Tru(e) Standish.

Seriously? These yohos of writers won’t even give us the satisfaction of a good ol’ fashioned group beatdown?

I blame Boo’s parents. If they hadn’t had her cremated, maybe the aliens could have brought her back.
