Some people will never be homeless. That is a good thing.

Barney, though not the worlds most likable man, would pick himself up and try again, If the sun exploded he would make a fortune in sunscreen.

Eh. No need for the sun to explode. Barney’s just one good class-action suit or SEC investigation (or IRS, or FDA, or…) away from destitution. It’s happened before, and I’m not convinced he wouldn’t collapse into a soggy lump if he found he’d lost everything.

Adviersity is like frontline combat; you never know who’s going to crack until they face it. But the fact that Barney can’t even imagine losing everything indicates to me that he’d be completely unprepared if it happened.

(But maybe he’s a Capricorn. A friend of mine who knows about such things assures me that Capricorns never end up living on the streets…)

So this is why Clyde has never invested over the years?

    Genius!

You’re probably right, Fritz, except that Adviersity is more like Friont Line combat.

fritzoid - I have a brother who was born on Dec. 29 (I think that means he’s a Capricorn). He was homeless for several years, until he got old enough to draw a pension from a previous employer. He’s got mental problems - undiagnosed & untreated because he was always “mainstreamed”, so he doesn’t realize how messed up his mind is. Proof that astrology is not always right. I agree with the Barney & Clyde about most homeless people having mental issues. Another brother has been destitute more than once, but is willing to do whatever it takes to keep a roof over his head. The other brother would rather live in a tent, than to take a permanent job doing menial work. (He was unemployed even back when the local economy was booming.)

Actually, Frankr, I had originally typed “Adviersty” but when I looked at it again I’d thought I’d forgotten the “i” rather than mislaid it. It must have been because I have dailysex… I mean dyslexia

Rmom, my own feelings about astrology are probably closer to yours than to my friend’s, and a smiley after that last comment would have conveyed my intended tone better. (And you’re correct, Dec. 29 is Capricorn.)
