Men used to wear makeup in Europe regularly until smallpox was brought under control. A lot of victims, including Queen Elizabeth I, were left completely bald as well. That’s why the powdered wigs and pancake makeup were popular.
I’ve often wondered why women wear makeup. I always prefer them more natural (not to say au natural).
In almost every case, makeup has made them look less attractive.

Then why are you bothering to shave, Earl?
Probably no man actually enjoys shaving, but once the stubble gets to a certain point it itches like hell. (It also makes you look like something that people cross the street to avoid.) :)
one morning when she was little, muriel hemingway watched her father ernest shaving. she asked “papa, why do you shave?”
she said he stared at himself in the mirror for a moment, replied “i have no idea why”, and threw the razor out the window.
he never shaved again.
Let’s see. I generally belong to the “less is more” school of women’s makeup. I’ve seen a few young women I think might be cute but I wasn’t sure since they were doing the “racoon” look with heavy black rings around their eyes.
As for shaving, I have worn a beard in the past because I hate shaving. I shave now because She Who Must Be Obeyed does not like me with a beard.
Generally speaking, women wear makeup and dress for other women. Reason being that other wormen notice and judge these things and we all know what we men notice first and foremost.
Speaking for myself, I wear make-up and nice clothes because I have been told it will help me get a job. I’m not kidding. Career services told me that the majority of a first impression is based on appearances. So when I have an interview I “put my face on,” all the while hating myself for letting society influence my decisions. I’m dreading the days when I get a job and I have to paint myself everyday. At what point do I get to quit sucking up and be myself again?
Yeah a lot of men claim they prefer women without makeup but what they really like is natural makeup. Clear, dewy, blemish free skin, long full lashes, rosy cheeks and lips… when women actually go without makeup they get told things like they look tired or asked if they aren’t feeling well!

We do care a little. I shaved my head because no matter what I did I looked like Dilbert’s boss.

Fishstix - That stuff is a long way away from wearing makeup.
GAY GUYS wear makeup.
I don’t necessarily think that being a man is all getting roughed up and dirty and not caring. Many men, myself included, care about their appearance.
