Just think. If you know how to swim, you have a way to escape from Hobbes the next time you play Calvinball.

Also, tigers don’t like swimming in children’s pee.

Well, swimming is better than having them run around a tree and turn to butter. On the other hand, if I have pancakes and syrup….

Funny. Tigers are one of the few big cats who have the need to swim. I wonder what Calvin is complaining about. Swimming is fun. Trust me, you don’t want to learn the hard way.

Speaking of Van de Graff Generators, there’s two GIANT ones at the Museum of Science in Bostom. It’s really cool

My wife, who is a retired nurse, was also a certified swimming instructor. Both our daughters learned how to swim at home, and our grandchildren are also excellent swimmers; except of course, our littlest one who is only six weeks old.

We had an in-ground pool in our back yard, and she taught hundreds of little kids how to be safe in the water. She even taught one of my ex girlfriend’s kids how to swim!

Remember the pool scene from Caddy Shack? Well, one day I was called home to extract an uninvited little guest from the pool. It was about the size of my little finger; and yes, it did look like a Butter Finger candy bar. Netted the little culprit, added five gallons of liquid chlorine, and the next day everything was safe and clean again! Ah, those were the good old days…

Tell Calvin he will be swimming with the dolphins. (Of course in actuality he will be…..no, no, no spoilers even with the “spoiler alert”—which never works, anyway!)

Such policies were difficult to enforce and risked us losing too many patrons. The fact that the kiddie pool had to be closed was enough of a wake-up call for parents who paid for club memberships to insist their kids go before jumping in. The additional fines for any misdeeds caught by staff helped reinforce the rules. Wanna discipline a child? Attack the parent’s wallet.
