    It’s often rather pointless to plant trees by roads, or in median strips. They cover speed limit signs (sometimes these idiots running the system actually plant them right in front of a sign you’re supposed to be able to see). They get destroyed by idiot drivers. They get destroyed by storms and cause traffic hazards when the broken limbs fall into the street.

    I plant flowers around our mailbox; the ones on the side closest to the road have withered, but the ones behind the post are blooming. I wonder what those fumes do to our lungs.
