Feline hypertrophic cardiomyopathy is an inherited genetic condition in Maine Coon cats like Fargo. Middle-aged to older cats as well as males are thought to be predisposed to the disease, which can lead to heart failure, paralysis of the hind legs from blood clots, and sudden death. Having lost my Sanura to this (at age 17 she suffered a stroke like her sister had seven years earlier), I hope fervently that Fargo’s veterinarian has made a misdiagnosis.
Strokes, the silent killer and maimer. My grandmother died that way. Not good to have such a thing as a trait from artificial breeding. They will one day find a means of correcting it but likely not for pets.

I’m sorry to hear about your health issue. You hang in there, Fargo, you have wonderful, loving parents. And Pippi.
