P1: Gil looks a little miffed in the background. Must be thinking “Gee, Mimi is only that affectionate with the pool boy. There can’t be anything going on, can there?”
P2: Is it me, or is Tru(e) morphing into Kaz?
P3: What a return to the strip for young Master Bader, complaining about his dad getting charged with murder. This cannot bode well
I can’t believe it either. This should top out at vehicular manslaughter. TOPS. We sure hate Grand Master Bader, but you can’t return second-degree murder on someone who didn’t actually kill the victim, and this is the sort of prosecutorial overreach that leads juries to acquit.
I think my prediction a little while back was accurate for a change — this story will carry us right through the end of the summer. There’s no sense starting a summer story in August, although I wouldn’t put it past them. Maybe by doing it this way they can have football practice start on a more realistic date.
That lightning bolt shirt seems to get a lot of exposure in this strip. Haven’t we seen that thing multiple times, and on different people? Maybe? Wouldn’t be the first time I was wrong, but I’m not up to scouring all the past strips to look for it. And speaking of scouring, you don’t have to scour the internet looking for today’s Mopped Up Thorp. You just need to click on the link.
Is this the last we’ll see of Tru(e)? if so, he had quite a run. He first appeared on July 2, 2014, so that would make it 743 real days (2 years, 12 days for the math challenged) that he’s been in our lives. Not sure what that is in MIlford time since our Thursday is their Monday, but it has to be close to that since he first appeared in the summer when the football team was about to start 7 on 7s. We’re not quite back to that in Milford, but it should be close.
“I can’t believe you got through that without crying. I would completely fall apart if I had to give Pedro’s – I mean, the eulogy for someone close to me.”
….so damn tired of the (lately) sanctimonious R & W story lines. This one is just turned into soul killing melodrama for those of us who like to be smart-asses.Some may notice that this comic saltpeter has caused me to lay off JCheezWhiz, not ask for shower references and generally stay away. This will be year two of no trip to Milford CC…R & W, can we at least get a glimpse of now club pro Steve Boone, who is down to a one handicap (one arm that is)? Is Gil still running his “youth camp” or has the Sandusky affair put a damper on that? Is Kenny Lark still playing?Come on, gents, rise up and strike for the sake of all smart asses!
Second-degree murder? Why, that’s even more exciting than country-club golf! (Although maybe the cow judge is a golfer, and Gil can persuade her to reduce Del’s sentence in exchange for a few pointers on her approach shots.)
“I can’t believe you got through that without crying” could actually be a reproach rather than an expression of sympathy. Maybe Mimi thinks True is cold and emotionless.

If Barry keeps running his mouth, they’ll also be charging his mom with second degree murder.

Monday came on Thursday this week! Not sure why that’s relevant since I don’t recall them mentioning what day the funeral was on.
Nice to see Gil and Mimi finally make an appearance. Gil seems annoyed though. Must have a tee time at Milford CC.
P3, Well Young Master Bader, maybe you should represent dear old dad in court. Who better than you to get him off.

In all reality , MA Bader took one look at the crotch of Barry’s pants and had to sit down .

This reminds me of the Emerson, Lake and Palmer song “Karn Evil 9” — “Welcome Back My Friends to the Arc that never ends…”

Put some dark sunglasses on Gil in P1 and he looks like he could be doing some summer work for the secret service.

Second-degree murder? Does that mean that Del’s customer is likely to cancel the big order for industrial solvents, too? Bummer!

So Monday comes on Thursday. It reminds me of that commercial I used to always see when I was growing up: “Wednesday is Sundae at Carvel!”
