I walk a three mile trail through woods and fields daily with my dog. It is bear territory, so I do make sure I make some noise. Biggest animal I’ve come across was a huge moose…just thirty feet away in a field and nowhere to run. Thankfully my dog showed little interest in the moose. I do worry about what might happen if we come across a bear.

Your dog will chase the bear.. the bear gets annoyed and chases the dog… the dog runs back to you. Now…you have a problem.

The old joke about bear bells:How do you tell the difference between black bear scat and grizzly bear scat? Grizzly bear scat has little bells in it.

I was thinking that was the bear’s dinner bell. Yummy, long pig on the hoof.
