Of course it is pedestrian. The monkeys are living in an abandoned saw mill. That’s right, they had the run-of-the-mill.
For a writer, I can see why he’s not been published.
It doesn’t sound the as if the book is high enough quality to be acceptable to any publisher – so is he self-publishing?
Go get those monkeys drivers’ licenses!
I don’t believe for a minute that a write wouldn’t know the definition of that term.
