Dad: Buckle up! It's time for you to experience the tactile joy and aural audacity of the record album! Before a note is played, the stage is set with 144 square inches of cover art! Within lies the inner sleeve (liner notes!) protecting the prize inside... behold! 180 grams of venerable vinyl-the guardian of the glorious groove! Caaarefuully place the discon the turntable, and set the spin cycle to 33 1/3 RPM! Now to unleash the analog awesomeness, we set the needle with the steady hand of a surgeon...

Oh, the days of yore with vinyl. (My older brother even has our late mother’s Beatles vinyls and the family record player.)

Vinyl does sound better than a CD.

With a better album, play it at 33 1/3. With the Ramones, play it at 78: you’ll get done with the dang thing sooner, and it will sound better!

I’m in the middle of converting my parent’s vinyl to MP3. It takes forever (took me 10 years to convert my collection, and I’ve been working for 5 years on my parent’s collection and I’m only about 1/4th way thru), but the results are worth it – lots of great music on my Galaxy S7, ranging from the 1920s to the present.

Pure kid, he and most of his generation don’t care a bit about what was. Being next generation after those who went through the great Depression were taught to keep thing for the memories, or to hand down. No one under 50 want us older folks stuff. They’re for making that great granddaddy’s prized shaving mug come trash.

You lost him, Thatadad! Ipod is so much faster and doesn’t take much room!
