I haven’t seen a ten-year-old (?) id with a paper route in years.
Around here the drivers are adults with cars. They pick up the papers before dawn, and deliver to much larger areas than a kid could reach, even on a bike.
And with subscription rates dropping, the delivery territories will have to grow even larger.Elliot, meanwhile, wears a path in the rug, from couch to kitchen to bedroom.
My only time having a paper route was delivering the Minneapolis Tribune for two weeks, back in the ‘50s. It was my friend’s route and he was on vacation. I enjoyed the experience, getting up at 4:30 to collect the stack of papers and then walking the route hauling the papers in a shoulder bag. I even had to collect from the customers each week – an interesting experience. But when it was over I was glad it was only two weeks.

I don’t see how he was able to maintain a paper route with his work ethic.

Who does the route when they’re not away?Presumably the same guy who “delivers” the weekly papers here…
