Gracie’s either going to be a dream or a nightmare for that teacher.

Don’t laugh, it happens. In the fifth grade, my daughter tested out at a ninth grade level.

She could be the next Doogie Howser.

I never skipped a grade, but I started Kindergarten when I was four and First Grade when I was five. Fortunately I was still always among the tallest in my grade, so I didn’t stick out for being among the youngest, but there’s much to be said for sticking with your peers. If you get to the point where you’re a 15 year-old college Freshman, you might be able to keep up with your classmates academically but it’s tough to fit in socially.

Gracie ought to be homeschooled! Then she won’t miss out on vital information, but doesn’t have to waste time while the slower ones are trying to grasp a concept. (If Papi or Tia aren’t up to the teaching, there are lots of ways around that problem nowadays.)

I hated little suck ups like her when I was in school. Now I just dislike them immensely.
