I didn’t know traditional burials were polluting…unless you use nuclear powered spades.

This reminds of an episode of Six Feet Under.

Actually, traditional American burials do pollute. They use embalming fluids, they put concrete vaults in the ground, they use tremendous amounts of materials for each person. In the old days, they put you in a pine box, stuck you in the ground and let you decompose. Now, they turn you into a giant Twinkie - fresh for a thousand years.

    (I’m going with cremation)

I like the tried and true burial at sea technique…….. of course that could pose some problems if you’re not at sea

RCMinor, I know there are other ways. My personal preference would be to simply be thrown in the ground and allowed to become fertilizer, but that is not allowed in our state. The simple pine box is an option, however the vast majority of cemeteries don’t allow them to be buried without a vault because the ground tends to sink when the boxes decay. The overall impact of cremation is not a great as burial with a vault, though I agree that it is not impact-free.

I could see being buried at sea, but I’m afraid of the water. ; - )
