The Buckets by Greg Cravens for August 11, 2016
Transcript:
And then, when everyone in the world owned one of my indestructible cars, I changed over my factory to build toasters and vacuum cleaners and other stuff that never breaks. That's how I got to be the world's first trillionaire. Don't you think your paper would sound more realistic if you had a job doing oil changes on people's cars? Yeah! Put that at the beginning! That's how I'll learn all about building perfect cars!

Oh Sheila, Sheila, Sheila. You’re looking for realistic? From Toby? Have you learned nothing over the past year?

Funny thing, he will either fail hard at that dream – or learn a lot from it to be happy doing something else.

Let him do his own damned paper and that failure will prepare him for his future.

I see a serious problem with Toby’s business idea, most companies make their money from return customers, but if something doesn’t wear out than you never get a return customer. I remember hearing once about a company that created socks that never wore out, the company went bankrupt because none of their customers ever needed to buy more socks.

Toby could learn a good lesson from Ultrex pans. They don’t make ‘em anymore because the originals were too good, and the company went bankrupt. Still got all the ones that my Dad bought. Sure, they’re scratched all to heck and back, but the nonstick still works.
