Arlo: What are you doing?
Janis: Going through my wardrobe.
Arlo: Going through your wardrobe.
Janis: Yes, getting rid of things I never wear! You should, too!
Arlo: Get rid of my best clothes?
She is getting rid of clothes she never wears. Those would not be her “Best Clothes”. She is not a B for suggesting Arlo clean out his closet too. People outgrow things and there is no need to keep those items.
Thrifty people never wear their best clothes. We learned that from our parents who were taught that by their parents who lived through the Great Depression. I have SUCH a difficult time wearing my most treasured clothing or shoes! My Mom told of going through my Grandma’s things and finding her “precious” well loved clothes, carefully stored for “good”!

In my opinion it would be a good thing to get rid of that burnt orange shirt.

My wife won’t let me wear my $5 thrift shop tuxedo. Not my fault.

He never wears his best clothes because I don’t think either one of them ever go to work any more.
