After 2,000 years you would think that someone maybe got the interpretation wrong. The Bible is nothing but metaphors and analogies. Why would this be the exception?
I’m (not really) surprised that none of the credulous, who have rushed in to defend their interpretation of their “holy” book, has even batted an eye about the clear class distinctions which are, after all, the point of the cartoon. It couldn’t be that they don’t care about (or even see) such things, could it? Nah, they’re too busy being “holy” (defined as “religiously contentious”) to worry about people being treated according to their level of personal wealth in this world. After all, when someone’s motto is “I’ve got mine (religiously or economically); to hell with everyone else” (it has been noticed that the religiously conservative vote republican), the rest of us are not too terribly shocked to find out that he or she could care less about justice or fairness, human dignity or equality.
In Stephen Roberts’ famous words: “I contend that we are both atheists. I just believe in one fewer god than you do. When you understand why you dismiss all the other possible gods, you will understand why I dismiss yours.”

Those people who debate the meaning of every word in the Bible miss THE WORD.
