The boy is fifth grade? I would’ve thought middle school (like say seventh grade).

What’s your philosophy?

To me, part of the humor derives from Elliot being so sarcastic, blasé, and also tech-savvy while still a middle school kid.

Sometimes people post that he should get a job….but I think they have his age mixed up with his young-adult cousin Spork’s. Elliot is definitely a child.

Here’s Daddy’s Home for May 30th, 2016 (not that this means he’ll be 11 this time next year… like many comic strip characters, Elliot and the others barely or never advance in age.)

Kyle … Tony is Tony Rubino …he writes this strip, which is illustrated by his cartooning partner, Gary Markstein.

Almost every day, Tony asks a question of his readers.

He used to post it in the forum himself, but some of us discovered that he put it on Facebook earlier, and now Twitter, too.

So one of us usually fetches it before he can get here…and right now he’s traveling with his family in Italy, anyway.

I’m impressed that Peter’s supposed to know Nietzsche.I suspect that Tony’s projecting here…

Zero, absolutely zero! It is a total waste of time…

And I only stated that I’m impressed that Peter knows Nietzsche.I never implied that he had any idea what Nietzsche said whatsoever…

The 6th-12th graders I telementor are doing research and writing far beyond what was expected from me until my later years in college.
