Aunt Fritzi: Don't sit so close to the television---You'll ruin your eyes. Nancy: I guess it's just a habit. Sign reads: NOVELTY SHOP
Little Nancy and her droogs:“I’m singin’ in the rain – just singin’ in the rain…”
We all heard don’t sit close to the TV screen, now look at us – computer monitors, cell phone screens, etc
As a kid, I found that watching the TV through a monocular gave me a huge picture. If I wanted projection TV, I could watch a tiny picture on a piece of cardboard, courtesy of a single lens in a dark room..Man, was I bored.
The earlier CRTs gave off much more x-rays than later models so sitting closer to the tv screen did damage them.
Ah but the screens were pretty small back then.
