Familiar face - can’t place it, but it reminds me of a photo of a crying Frenchman as the Nazis took over Paris. Don’t get the clockwork body either.

I can’t imagine QV being called a putain, even an Anglaise one.

Chrisnp, I think the body is a TikTok. I can’t ID the face, either–Maginot is my best guess. Dunno why he looks so unhappy, unless that paunch indicates a bad case of DeGaulle stones.

I believe this was a rejected storyboard for the Froggy Gone A Courtin’ music video as recorded by Johnny Hallyday & Sylvie Vartan.

@Chrisnp — I think I’ve seen the same picture, and have been searching LIFE magazine archives. So far, no luck.

I’m afraid it’s all “Greek” to me – I don’t know French, though I know what “putain” means.

Last sentence means, ” And so dies intellectual humor…” However, it’s “humour” and not “humeur”. “Humeur” means “mood”.

This is what my Scottish relatives would call “a wee joke”.

dmhulbert, and all us who never learned French for whatever unfortunate reason. Babelfish translates the Frenchman as saying: “English whore you play a video game”. then: “and l’ dies thus; intellectual mood”

not sure how correct Babelfish is, but there’s the gist. and damned clever I must say. Oui, we wii, Wheee!!! heeheehee

Final panel would be, “And thus dies intellectual humor.”

…or “the intellectual mood,” which might also make sense. (Curse you, Babelfish.)
