This is single use, and satire. Those are protected. We’re certainly not going to be making the little wooden guy a regular, nor featuring him on any merchandise.
Reminds me of the story of McDonald’s suing a woman who opened a cafe named McDonald’s in the UK. Lord McDonald threatened to sue McDonald’s for using the Clan’s name world wide without permission if the company didn’t drop their case.
I don’t think it is a matter of flouting the law, the law provides for satire, single use, however you want to put it. The problem is people have become too litigious in our society. Tell me I’m wrong and I’ll sue. =)
