D’awwww. I swear if he stops in the doorway and says, “As you wish” my eyeballs are gonna overflow.

I’m recalling an Ozy and Millie strip where Llewellyn claims eating a waffle was a greater experience than raising a son. I say that it may be an unorthodox thing to choose, but if the waffle really was that good there’s nothing wrong with that preference.

Ah, so we finally know the name of Phoebe’s mom! (at least, I think Emily is her name)

I think dad just answered you. By the way, I just noticed that his beard is growing back.

Dad’s genuine happiness at his daughter being weird is wonderful. Best Dad. <3

It’s one of the -pleasures of this strip, and of Ozzy & Millie, that the parents are well-developed characters, and genuinely likeable.

Parents often forget the extreme value of teaching ethics to their children, which is what Dad is doing in his “not very kingly” remark. When, as a grade-schooler, a friend snarked at me about an outfit I wore on a camp field-trip and I asked my mother why she let me wear it she said, “There’s nothing wrong with your outfit. If there were, I wouldn’t have let you wear it. I will always tell you the truth; it’s what friends do for each other.” She died no too long after that. Fifty-five years later, and they’re still words to live by.
