My dog prefers an audience. He will hold it until someone is watching. He seems disappointed that there is no applause when he finishes.

Is Earl looking at the fourth wall, or just politely averting his eyes from Roscoe?

My (neurotic) dachshund is very skittish (insert long backstory here) and will hold it for a looooong time if there are loud kids or lawnmowers or driveway basketballers nearby.

    But we love her anyway.

I did have a dog who was persnickity about pooping, while people were peering, preferring privacy to public peeing. Perhaps, his personal problems proceeded from puppy paranoia or a pedigree predilection. He was a prudish poodle !

I can relate to that one! Public restrooms are no fun!

Had an old dog that would pee on any vertical surface, but would back into a clump of brush or weeds to poop, then paw up the ground where he stood right down to the dirt. He would not just poop on the ground.
