If you strip away the top layer (which is what alcohol does), aren’t most guys alike in this way. If you’re an alcoholic, it’s probably not a good idea to be a politician making a speech when you’re in your cups. Too revealing.
Now you see why I (and the rest of my family) loathe alcoholism so much. Of course, for some of you who are alcoholics may be offended by what I just said, I say this: Too bad.
If you are in a frisky frame of mind, Senator Bedfellow’s improvised version of the speech may be more amusing than speech-writer Steve Dallas’s safe and dry text….
@Old Texas 75: glad you could take time from your practice as a physician/psychologist with experience in autism to dispense your deep wisdom in how to deal with it.
Speaking as someone with higher functioning autism, when I became old enough to drink, I swore never to drink alcohol. I think it’s a terribly stupid thing to do, get intoxicated. The other day I had a bit of a cough, but the cough medicine had alcohol in it, so I let it go away by itself.
A rerun from WAY WAY back, when Bloom County was less than a year old. I suppose this means that Senator Bedfellow will be back for awhile, acting as the straw man for Donald Trump whenever Trump makes a blunder on the campaign trail (and there will be many of these over the next couple months). Hillary will also have her share of blunders and perhaps Bedfellow can echo these too. Actually the most caustic barb toward an acting politician BB ever did was not through Bedfellow, but through a character named Limekiller back in December of 1983 when he echoed the statement that essentially finished off Reagan’s first Secretary of the Interior James Watt, “a black, a woman, two Jews, and a cripple.” BB substituted “dips” for “Jews.”

It’s reading skills like that that used to make me despair at the futility of being a middle school teacher.

This is one of the reasons I am a total teetotaler. I never want to be inebriated. I’m odd enough sober.

@Ol Texan: punctuation is important. I helps to prevent misunderstandings.

I couldn’t have Trumped it any better than the Senator did

It’s not reading skills that Ol Texan lacks, it’ reading COMPREHENSION skills that seems to be his downfall.

Actually, this was one of his better speeches.

Sad that I actually miss ancient life time politicians. Oh, wait, Jesse Helms, Strom Thurmond, Robert Byrd. Ok, maybe not all of them.
