As a young cook I often wondered how some of these techniques like meringue came about in the first place, considering the combination of Ingredients and amount of labor involved in producing it from scratch by hand? I’ve done it, it’s no fun. Give me my stand mixer.

I’ve never tried making a meringue. I’ve been told that I do not cook like an adult. It’s true, I learned to cook over an open fire out in the woods.

Learning from chef grandma is a lot more fun, too. She has the time and the patience to teach you at your own pace. Plus she enjoys it and lets you know that she does.

We used to always make stuff by hand; mostly because we didm’t have enough scratch to buy it already made…

Food made from scratch is usually better and better for you if you monitor the quality of the ingredients
