Tia: My cousin Eloy knew his cars. Baldo: Really? Tia: Yes! We'd be walking down the street and a car would drive by... Tia: And Eloy would point and say, "that's a car!"
When we we kids, we were able to tell not only the make of the automobile but the year and style. Now, they all look alike… and with some makes, it is very difficult to tell what year it was made.
Right after WW-II, cars looked like late ‘30s: same tiny rear window, same sloping back, same dies to make them. Then in ’47, Studebaker made the first really post-war car, with a big wrap-around back window, and people literally couldn’t tell whether it was coming or going.

“I know a lot about cars, I can look at a car’s headlights and tell you exactly which way it’s coming.”
