Gerbils are more driven by scent; if you put a gerbil that doesn’t smell right into a group of gerbils, they will kill and eat it. This even applies to gerbils that got out of the enclosure for a day. Sad, but true.

Humans aren’t the only animals who can see and understand what is a reflection and what isn’t. Don’t think gerbils do except in toonland where many more species have human levels of intelligence.
