When I was a paperboy I didn’t have the money to buy dog treats, or a place to keep them if I could afford them, but I still ran into two kinds of dogs, the ones who barked and tried to bite me, and the ones that greated me and begged to be petted.
My parents were best friends with our letter carrier and his wife. When the two of them would come over, our dogs would be overwhelmed with joy. But, when he came in his postal uniform uniform delivering mail, the dogs would bark their heads off at him. Even when he spoke to them, they still barked.

There’s also a third type – those who get bitten for not having dog biscuits in their pockets.

Our mail carried is the dog’s favorite human, after me. She always has a little bowl treats on the dash of the truck.

Pepper barks like crazy at the UPS man. Then she stands with her front feet in the truck and wags. Go figure.

Bruno even barks at UPS trucks when we’re driving around town.

Yeah, I thought that dogs only recognised ONE type of delivery man: enemy. Those poor guys are always getting barked at.
