Yesterday, the wife said, “I’m going to Walmart. Do you need anything?” I answered, “No, hon”, knowing full well she was hinting that I go along.Three hours later, she returns with 4 skeins of yarn from Michaels, and 5 candles (“They were on sale!”) from Bath & Body Works. No, there were no items from Walmart, and no, none of those stores are near each other.
The Yarn Barn? Half price sale? I’m there! Some of us love crocheting and yarn’s expensive. And no we don’t need a hubby tagging along. What’s wrong with you Opal?
At least my husband now feels no obligation to go shopping with me when I ask if he wants to come with me. I never wanted him to feel unwanted, but shopping is one thing I prefer to do by myself. The only time I really want someone to come with me, is if I need to buy something for them, and need help picking it out. (Clothing, snacks, etc.) After several months of not being able to shop by myself, due to health issues, I was “tickled pink” when I got well enough to go all by myself once again.
I hate these truisms that are, unfortunately, true. But at least a little easier to take in the funnies…which have been with me since my time horizons were huge and endless…

I wouldn’t want to spend any of my last moments at the Yarn Barn either.

It’s not what anything costs that matters any more; it’s how much the monthly payment is.

“Do you want to go with me to…?” is not a question. It is usually a statement. “Are you sure?” is not a question, it is a threat.

She’s just sneaking out of the house to meet up with Jonathan from the Property Brothers! LOL Ok, that was a weird thought.

My mom made me go to fabric stores with her, where she would peruse pattern books for hours. It was the most boring thing in my whole life. I’m 68…

Least it wasn’t the Fabric Store. Opal must still remember their deal then.
