They ‘Could’ indeed. But then they’ll have to deal with the Tea Party. Of course… they’ll also have to deal with them before the elections, too, and that’s not going so well.

If America’s main-stream voters allow this to happen, they’ll prove to the world that they have no short-term memory and they are simply sheep in the thrall of the Rush / Rove misinformation machine. Why don’t people remember the economic meltdown and un-paid-for wars that Bush/Dick left in their wake.

My greatest fear is that 23% of voters will decide our future at the polls. Wake up people and go vote! If 90% of eligible voters show up at the polls and vote the No Party into office, so be it. That’s democracy. But if 40% vote and a simple plurality vote Repub., then we’re stuck with governance by a fanatical minority. PLEASE, GO VOTE!

I’d like me some socialism. Health Care, Social Security, public roads, fire and police departments, courts, utilities. Why not? Its working for most of Europe, like Clark says.

Funny, “socialist dictatorship” is not how I’d describe the government in the countries WF is talking about. And yes, if theirs is “socialism” - as has often enough been intimated - then it might not nearly be so bad.

Fool left out mass transit, schools, military & ports (sea, air & space). Other than that, the list is about right. I’m not socialist enough to include farms, factories, stores, & newspapers. I’ll probably vote for the Green Party. “But they can’t win.” Not with that attitude. I’m used to coming in 4th.
